What should I do when I receive my system?

  • The first thing to do when a system is received is to open the system chassis and inspect inside the chassis.  To do this, Open the side panel of the computer by removing the two screws from the back. The side you need to open is the left side looking from the back.  Most system are shipped with packaging material and drivers, cables and other accessories inside the chassis for protection of the system.  Please remove then.  Before closing the chassis, make sure no cables are obstructing any of the system fans.

When I turn on my system, I do not see any fans spinning, it looks like the system is not getting any power?

  • There are a few things to check, use you motherboard reference information included to help you locate these elements.
    • Check the power cord, make sure is plugged securely.
    • Some power supplies have an on/off switch in the back of the power, make sure it's on the ON position.
    • When removing the internal packaging and accessories, one of the cables for power to the motherboard or the case switch connector may have loosen or come off. Please check the reference information include as to what is connected to your motherboard.  Most motherboard today us a large 20/24pin power connector and a auxiliary power 4pin connector.  check the front panel power connection to the motherboard

When I turn on my system, I see fans Spinning and the lights come on but I am not getting any video on my monitor?

  • This happens once is a while with system when they are shipped.  We do not know exactly the causes this but this procedure usually takes care of the problem.   Be careful and follow the procedure to the letter.

    1) Open the side panel of the computer by removing the two screws from the back.  The side you need to open is the left side looking from the back.

    2) Lay the computer flat on a table.  Power cable still connected but the system off.  Open side facing the top.

    3) Locate the memory (check the manual for location).  removed the memory DIMM Card(s).

    4) Disconnect the Power cord from the back of the Case.  Also, disconnect the power to the motherboard (some motherboard have one large power connector only while others have one large and a smaller 4 pin connector).

    5) Clear the BIOS (refer the manual again) but setting the CMOS jumper to the clear position for 10 second and then back to normal.

    6) Reinstall the memory.  Make sure that you insert the memory correctly aligning the cuts on the memory dim to the slot.  IT MUST CLICK IN PLACE AT BOTH ENDS (CAREFUL HERE, IF YOU DO NOT INSERT THE MEMORY IN THE CORRECT ORIENTATION YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SYSTEM)  GIVE IT A GOOD PUSH IN THE MIDDLE, MAKING GOOD CONTACT IS ESSENTIAL.

    7) Reconnect the power to the motherboard and the power cord to the back of the power supply.

    8) Re-install the side removed and try the system

If you system has multiple memory DIMMS, please try first with one memory DIMM, then the other.  Often times when customer do return memory DIMMS to us they do not have problems.  Usually they just where not making good contact with the motherboard slot.  Beside clicking in place, make sure a good push in the middle of the DIMM is also made.

Can I used a hard drive that already has windows XP or Vista installed from a previous system on this system?

  • Usually not, windows XP and Vista adapt to the hardware on which is installed.  In most cases there will be considerable difference between systems that would not let windows install on a previous systems work with new hardware properly.  We strongly recommend that you install windows fresh on the system in which will be used.

I have a USB keyboard and my system does not seem to want to boot from my windows CD or let me go into the BIOS SETUP?

  • USB keyboards on some system are not recognize by the default setting.  You will require to use a PS/2 Keyboard to initially set up the system.  Also, Bios some sort of Setting for  "LEGACY USB SUPPORT" or "USB for DOS DEVICES" or something similar.  Make sure to review and enable that settings.

I installed my own IDE Optical Drive or IDE Hard Drive and the system is not recognizing that is installed?

  • The most common problem with this is the data cable being used.  On all systems we currently sell IDE drives including Optical drives must use an 80-conductor data cable.  In the pass, optical drives use a 40 conductor cable which you can tell from each, the 80 conductor looks like it has more wires and are thinner.
  • If you are connecting two IDE drives on the same cable.  Make sure one of the drives is set to MASTER and the other SLAVE.  This is usually done through jumpers on the drive.
  • For IDE Drives, make sure the line one of the cables matches the pin one of the device.  Also, make sure on the motherboard this is also the chassis.
  • Make sure power is connected to each device.
  • Go into the BIOS SETUP and see if the drives show up there.

I Have a SERIAL ATA Hard drive, the bios tells me that is detected by the system but windows cannot find it when I try to install windows?

  • Some customer have reported this problem.  This is caused by the version of windows XP you are trying to install lacking the necessary drivers for SERIAL ATA.  With all the system we currently sell all versions of Service Pack 2 will work without any need for SERIAL ATA drivers.  If you have a previous version,  you need to either obtain a copy of windows XP that includes SP2 or need to load SERIAL ATA drivers.  SERIAL ATA drivers can only be loaded from a Floppy (internal, not USB, make sure than you enable floppy support in the bios).  Copy the SERIAL ATA Drivers to the floppy.  When windows installation starts, Press F6 for 3rd party RAID to install drivers.

  • Although systems are fully tested prior to shipping, it is possible that components can develop problems.  To rule out memory, which is the most common hardware problem please run the following memory test.

I have my windows installed but my system is running much slower than I had expected, Why?

  • Often problems with performance of a new system have to do with configuration.  Drivers for the specific hardware included with the system must be installed (often they are not included with windows).  Please check and make sure that drivers for Video, Sound, LAN are installed.   These drivers are included with the CD(s) that come with the systems.  If you are having problems installing it from the CD(s) we suggest that you go the motherboard's manufacturer website and download the drivers from there.  The web site will always include the latest drivers.  After installing all the drivers, please check in the Device Manager (search in Windows Help for "device manager" to get to the page).  Any devices with a Yellow "?" or "!" mark means that they have not been properly installed.

The system description said that the system had PCI-Ex16 Video but I do not see a Video card on the PCI-EX16 Slot?

  • PCI-Ex16 is the term used to describe the internal bus on a motherboard that connects several components, memory, CPU, graphics and add on cards. This bus is highly specialized to achieve great performance specially in data intensive applications. PCI-Ex16 is a BUS, not a Video adaptor although is usually used by Video Adaptors.  We ask you to please go ahead and configure your system.

I set up windows and it shows the memory on my system is less that what I ordered?

  • There is a difference between the memory installed on a system, what we call physical memory and the memory that windows uses or can use.  There are two main reason that the windows memory may be less than the physical memory
    • All 32-bit operating systems have a limit of about 3.2GB of addressable memory.  That is, if you order a system with 4GB or more of physical memory the most that windows 32-bit is 3.2GB.
    • Video Components with Turbo-Cache or Hyper-Cache use a portion of the physical memory installed for Video buffer hence reducing the amount of memory available to windows from the physical memory.
